Dialects & minority languages

Every language deserves a conversation partner.

Regional and minority languages and dialects have few conversation partners and hardly any language technology. That is exactly what we build AI language partners for. We start with Low German and North Frisian Mooring from Schleswig-Holstein, both now in beta.

Our first partners

Wo geiht’t?Beta

Hauke

Low German (Plattdüütsch)

Northern Low Saxon from North Frisia. Hauke used to teach at the village school, has a big garden and a dog called Fiete, and loves to chat about everything.

Moin!Beta

Inken

North Frisian (Mooring)

Bökingharde Frisian from North Frisia. Inken speaks only Mooring, even if you talk to her in German.

Together with you

Every language and every dialect is different. That is why we develop your language partner closely together with you and your language community, from the first idea to everyday use.

How it feels

  • ✓The partner listens and speaks at the same time, like in a real conversation.
  • ✓It waits until you have finished and can be interrupted.
  • ✓It answers in Low German or Frisian, even if you start in standard German.
  • ✓Available like every language: EU cloud, on premise or hybrid.

Where it helps

  • •Low German and Frisian lessons at schools
  • •Language and cultural institutes, heritage and language associations
  • •Adult education centres, libraries and museums
  • •Tourism and regional marketing
  • •Families who want to pass a language on to their children
  • •Language communities worldwide, from dialects to indigenous languages

Beta, honestly

Hauke and Inken are being developed in our funded research project. They speak intelligibly and recognisably regional, but not yet at native level. We keep improving both and welcome partners who support us with language and feedback.
